March book orders are due by midnight May 5^th if ordering on line or by 4:00 p.m. May 6^th if  turning your order in to school.

Each month Scholastic Book Catalogs will be sent home for you to browse through.  If you find books that you are interested in purchasing you have two options.  You can send the order in to school with a check made out to Scholastic (orders from multiple catalogs can be added together into one check) or the preferable option is for you to place your order on line through the Scholastic website.  When you visit the website you will also have a much wider selection of books and catalogs to choose from.  In addition, for each on line order you place UMS receives a free book coupon and you receive a $5 coupon good towards your next order!

Please note that due to formatting limitations the parent page on-line will have the title “Lori Karmazin’s Class” simply because I  will be the one processing the orders when they arrive to school. Despite the title, each class will benefit from the free books earned with each on-line order even though each teacher does not have their own page. The greatest benefit is that you now have access to all of the available catalogs regardless of your child’s age so feel free to browse any and all of the selections!  Recommendations and wish lists will not be used at this time.

Peace, Love & Soccer | April 6 – May 11

Hello soccer parents and families and welcome to Peace, Love & Soccer’s spring season! The season will last six weeks beginning on Saturday, April 6^th and ending on Saturday, May 11^th.  All soccer events take place on Saturday mornings at the fields across the street from Undercroft Montessori School (3745 S. Hudson Ave.)  from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Each Saturday, teams will have about 30 minutes of drills/practice and 30 minutes of scrimmage.

The firm deadline enables us to create the best situation for all involved – ordering t-shirts, planning the soccer schedule, and creating balanced teams. Teams will consist of about six-eight players and will play three on three or four on four during the scrimmages. Please list the names of two friends that you would like to play on your team and we will try to accommodate all wishes if possible. At the very least, you will play with one of the friends on your list.

Peace, Love and Soccer is a business project of Undercroft Montessori middle school students. The middle school students with adult advice and guidance run this soccer program in order to gain real world business experience and earn money to fund a trip each year. Our focus is on creating a fun and enjoyable positive environment for all involved. We appreciate your participation and support!

Undercroft’s Dutch Mill Bulbs_Spring 2013 Fundraiser and Spring 2013 Bedding Plant Sale runs until April 8th.  Proceeds from the sale will go to the “greening” of the Natural Playscape.

Bedding plants are available by flats only.  Please feel free to ask friends, neighbors and relatives if they are interested in purchasing plants through this sale.  Additional order blanks are available in the office.  Orders need to be turned in by April 8^th, 2013.  Please have checks payable to Undercroft.  Plants will be distributed on Monday, April 22^nd during the 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. carpool.  Bulbs should be available for distribution at the same time.   If your child attends aftercare, your order will be left in front of the building for you to pick up.

In honor of Earth Day, April 22^nd, why not consider creating a habitat for butterflies and hummingbirds or simply add color and beauty to your yard with flowers from the Undercroft Spring plant sale.   On behalf of the UMS children, thank you for supporting  our efforts to make the Undercroft campus a well balanced environment for all living things.
